Snow!

It rarely snows in Sacramento, and when it does, it only lasts about 15 minutes. We don’t live far from the Sierras, mountains that are over 3000 meters high and where it often snows in winter.
Friday I drove to Sky Mountain, a camp in the Sierra at about 5800ft. (1780m). Our church men gathered to pray and sing in what is called a “prayer encounter”. When we woke up on Saturday morning, we were surprised to find most of the ground covered with snow. It was an early snow for that altitude. It didn’t last long, but it was beautiful while it lasted. Snow, however, is very cold and because it is water, can make your clothes wet and cold quickly so I wasn’t really sad to see it go since I didn’t have extra clothes, especially shoes, for walking and playing in the snow.
Here’s a short audio blog about this:
This is the first time i leave my comments here . I went to Beijing after the National Day . From October 12nd to 16th . I really wanted to see snow in Beijing when I was there . Since I haven’t seen snow before only on TV . But i didn’t see any . I visited many places in Beijing , such as the Summer Palace , the Imperial Palace , the Great Wall ect. I had a great time in Beijing .

I’m sorry you missed seeing snow when you visited Beijing. I wonder when the snow season is for northern China? I suspect it may be similar to our own country where the mountains may get snow in September, but it is too warm to stay on the ground until November. In the midwest and east, the low altitude areas like Beijing won’t be getting snow until probably mid-November.
I grew up in San Diego. The weather there is always warm. It rains very little and it never snows. There are some high mountains nearby that we could drive to to see snow in December and January. Snow is fun for small children and when you first get a chance to play with it. You can make a snowman and throw snowballs at each other. But if you are like I was, you probably won’t have the clothes (warm gloves, pants that don’t get wet, etc.) to really enjoy it. After about 15 minutes, you will find your hands frozen, your clothes (especially your shoes and socks) wet and you will feel miserable.

I love snow and I want to see the real snow with my own eyes very much.Touch it,smell it and even taste it.Oh,how fancinated it will be!
On hearing that my colleague will go to Shanguan for the training,I felt excited and at the same time worry aroused. That means I may have the possibilty to go to Shanguan, too. If I go ,I can see the snow there. But the weather is so cold in Shaoguan and it is a long way to go from Enping.I will stay there for over 20 days.Such feelings are very complicated and hard to express.
I envy you,Bruce.you can live in the area where you can see, smell, touch the white snow.
